Marie Baronnet
Marie Barronnet's work suggests that the female body has the potential to break the stereotypes into which images of that body have been forced. Using a black background, a Polaroid camera with a timer, and her own nude body, Baronnet achieves one of the principle objectives of the feminist movement: the reclamation of the image of woman from the representations of others.
Flamboyantly exhibitionistic, free to assume any and every position no matter how unseductive, how indecourous, this woman makes a spectacle of herself. This is the female figure en liberte, going through a series of metamorphoses, shaping a new language of femininity. With her own body, Baronnet is writing the hieroglyphics of a new speech.
