Nancy Davidson
Excess, positive exaggeration, eroticism, hyperbole, transgression
are what the work is about. Like a clown at the carnival, Davidson presents
the audience with balloons large enough to fulfill our childhood fantasies
for the biggest one. Each balloon is dressed in a tutu with fetishistic
straps that bifurcate it into the two halves of a grotesquely fat derriere
floating, lighter than air, up to the ceiling where it "moons" the spectator.
