Guerilla Girls

The Guerrilla Girls, an anonymous group of women who call themselves the conscience of the art world, do battle against sexism and racism in the art world with "facts, humor and fake fur." Armed with statistics about the exclusionary exhibition and editorial practices of museums, galleries, art magazines, critics and curators, these masked avengers began their war against discrimination by plastering the streets of SoHo with posters. In less than a decade they have gained international recognition, been invited to speak in numerous locations, and made various television and radio appearances in the United States, Europe, Canada, South America, and Australia. Recently, they became the subject of an award-winning documentary film, Guerrillas in Our Midst, and this year saw the publication of their book Confessions of the Guerrilla Girls.

The Guerrilla Girls can be contacted at LaGuardia Place #237, New York, NY 10012. Further information about this group can be obtained by visiting the Guerrilla Girls website (see related links page on this site).
