Jenny Holzer

Jenny Holzer first entered the streets surreptitiously, putting up posters that were quickly covered over in the general pell-mell of street advertising. Over the past ten years her work has become "street clothes" appearing on building walls, billboards, movie marquees, wall plaques, light-emitting diodes (LEDs), shopping bags, matchbooks, T-shirts, and baseball caps.

About the Artist:
Jenny Holzer was born in 1950 in Gallipolis, Ohio. She received a B.F.A. from Ohio University and an M.F.A. from the Rhode Island School of Design. She was the American representative in the 44th Venice Biennale in 1990, at which she received the Leone d'Oro. She now lives in New York City.
