Our faculty represent a variety of perspectives and experiences from
across the campus, working to help our students - and each other - appreciate
and understand the complexity of environmental issues. The diversity includes
but is not limited to:
• Prof. Steven
Lee of the Philosophy Dept. with expertise in the environmental
impact of nuclear power.
• Profs. John
Halfman, Jim
Ryan, Tara Curtin, Neil Laird and other science facultythat investigate Seneca Lake and its watershed. Halfman
was recently awarded the "Seneca
Lake Steward Award" by Seneca Lake Pure Waters Association.
• Profs. McKinney and Jim MaKinster's very successful Environmental
Studies Summer Youth Institute for pre-college students.
• Profs. Nan Arens, Brooks McKinney and Beth Newell and their
term-abroad programs in Australia & New Zealand, and Ecuador
& Peru (respectively).
• Prof. Jim MaKinster of the Education Dept. and his environmental
education outreach programs for the Finger Lakes Institute.
• Prof. Craig
Rimmerman of the Political Science Dept. and his Washington
DC "environmental" & "public policy" internships.
• Prof. Tom
Drennen of the Economics Dept. investigates energy use and its
impact on global economics and climate change. He also leads an
abroad program to Geneva, Switzerland.
• Prof. Mark Jones' photographic collection and internships
associated with the LA Program.
• Prof. Professor Richard Mason's teacher training and education
of our society on significant environmental issues.
