Campus Greens seeks to encourage responsibility for the environment
on an individual and institutional level. In order to meet this
mission statement Campus Greens commit to the goals listed below.
Campus Greens intends to meet the compiled goals through concrete
methods with evidence of our accomplishments.
Join us at our weekly meetings
Mondays, 8:00 pm, GAEA (Sill) House, 704 S Main St
and at this meeting we will begin signing up for committees to
get a lot of different things done this semeester.

GOALS
Inform:
To inform and increase environmental literacy of the students,
the broader academic, and the Geneva community on pressing issues
such as:
- Wildlife conservation.
- Resource conservation.
- Local and global
scale environmental issues.
- One's own impact on the environment.
Encourage and Promote:
To encourage the action of the campus community in different forms
on many environmental issues.
- Promote conservation legislation of the local,
state, and federal levels.
- Support actions that promote a healthy planet,
while encouraging the Hobart and William Smith community to move
away from actions that are harmful to the environment.
- Encourage a minimal use of resources and output
of waste to lessen our community's environmental impact.
Campus Greens:
Form an environmental group on campus that is active, functional
and committed to the environment for a prolonged period of time.
RECENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
- Initiated campus awareness to increase
resource, energy, and water conservation.
- Initiated an ink
cartridge recycling program in the computer centers.
- Organized
and sent various petitions and letters to our representatives
and senators including...
- Over 100 letters urging senators to cosponsor the Arctic
National Wilderness Refuge.
- Over 100 letters supporting the
National Forest Protection and
Restoration Act.
- About 250 signatures encouraging the
End Commercial Logging movement.
- Over 100 letters urging
representatives to raise fuel economy standards.
- Almost
200 student and faculty signatures for a greener campus.
- About 300 signatures urging Cristine T. Whitman to act
on the issue of sewage in our waters
- 150 students and faculty
support less Styrofoam in our school cafe.
