Robert
C. Barbuto began teaching jazz piano at HWS in 2002;
he also directs the HWS Jazz Ensemble. Along with his responsibilities
at the Colleges, he teaches piano at the Finger Lakes Community
College and is accompanist for the FLCC Jazz Choir.
In 1995 he established the Fenwick
Music Academy in Geneva, which places emphasis on the art of
ensemble playing. As a New York State certified teacher he
has taught pre-kindergarten through high school.
Barbuto is an experienced and widely respected professional
musician and composer. He has led his own groups, such as Exit
41, In-Flight, and the Blue Diamond Big Band, and most recently
the Bob Barbuto Trio, which in 2002 recorded a CD entitled
Shades of Jazz featuring his original material. In addition,
he has played with notable talents such as Nick Brignola, Charlie
Ventura, Bill Tillman (Formerly of Blood, Sweat & Tears),
Randy Bernsen (formerly of B, S & T), and friend and jazz
great Jaco Pastorius. He has recorded on Etc. and Mercury Records
in New York City and Prizma in Florida.
Bob Barbuto received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Hobart
College.
