Angela Libertella Calabrese

CalabreseAngela Libertella Calabrese appeared most recently at the Smith Opera House in Geneva as Angelina in the American Landmarks Festivals production of Trial by Jury. Her other operatic roles include Zerlina in Don Giovanni with Binghamton’s Tri-Cities Opera, Papagena in Die Zauberflote, Despina in Cosi fan Tutte, Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, Ida in Die Fledermaus, Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly and Suor Genovieffa in Suor Angelica.

Calabrese holds a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance and pedagogy and piano studies from Nazareth College where she studied with Joan Floriano and Dr. Beverly Smoker. She also holds a Master of Music degree in vocal performance and literature from Northwestern University, where she studied with Elizabeth Fischer and Sherill Milnes. A first prize winner in the Chicago Italian Cultural Center Voice Competition, Calabrese was a finalist in the Friends of Austria Lieder Competition, Chicago Bel Canto Competition, and she received an Honorable Mention from the American Society of Musicians. She also participated in the Tri-Cities Opera Touring Educational Program, the V.O.I.C.E. Experience festival for young professionals (Chicago and Orlando), and the Brevard Music Festival. In Geneva, Calabrese has been a featured soloist with the Hobart and William Smith Colleges Community Chorus, and she has a large studio of piano and voice students in the community.
