James Trowbridge has a masters in performance with an emphasis in conducting from Louisiana State University at Lafayette and his Bachelors of Music Education from Ithaca College. He teaches instrumental music at Midlakes High School in the Phelps-Clifton Springs School District and performs regularly with the Midlakes Brass Quintet (formerly Classic Brass). His prior performance experiences include with the Greater Rochester Music Educators Wind Ensemble, the Utica, Catskill, and Acadiana Symphony Orchestras, the Binghamton Philharmonic, and the University of Southwestern Louisiana Faculty Brass Quintet. Prior to teaching in New York State, Trowbridge taught private tuba students as a graduate student at the University of Southwestern Louisiana. He also taught low brass methods classes and guest conducted the University Wind Ensemble and Chorus. Trowbridge enjoys inviting guest musicians on occasion to perform with the HWS Brass Ensemble, such as Ithaca College Tuba Professor David Unland, acclaimed composer for percussion Charles Morey, and others.
