Jeananne Cassarino Ralston has
a B.A. in music with a concentration in piano from Mount Union
College in Alliance, Ohio. She also majored in fine arts, graduating cum
laude. Although she decided to follow music
more prominently, she has exhibited her paintings locally on
occasion.
Jeananne has an extensive background as an accompanist. She
played in the dance studio at Hobart and William Smith for
six years. She accompanies regularly in the Canandaigua High
School for NYSSMA vocal/instrumental solos and at the Middle
School for the choir. She often accompanies voice students
at HWS for their repertoire classes.
As a teacher her experience includes teaching general music
in private/parochial schools for five years. She teaches piano
privately at home and at HWS. Jeananne uses a traditional approach
which includes technique, theory, and performance repertoire.
She also encourages ear training and improvisation. Her method
includes non-classical styles, which balance her emphasis on
the traditional classical method. Jeananne has a particular
interest in the psychology of performance and includes discussion
of various aspects of this topic in her studio lessons.
