The Department of Music offers both a disciplinary and an
interdisciplinary minor. Those considering either type of music
minor are encouraged to start their coursework in the first
year. A recommended starter course is Introduction to Music
Theory (MUS 110), which is offered every fall semester as well
as sometimes in the spring semester.

Interdisciplinary music minors are required to take a total
of seven courses: six music courses and one non-music elective
course from the departments of art, history, education, philosophy,
religious studies, anthropology, languages, dance, or another
department, chosen in consultation with the advisor. Courses
