The Russian Area Studies Program faculty welcome you and invite you to learn more about the largest country in the world. Our multi-disciplinary course offerings allow you to experience Russia from a wide variety of viewpoints. Russian Area Studies includes faculty from the departments of Political Science, Art, History, Economics, and Music, as well as the language teaching faculty, who are based in the program itself.

We offer one of the most flexible degrees of study at HWS, with a interdisciplinary and disciplinary major and minor.  This flexibility makes it very easy to make Russian Area Studies part of your degree.
