  • Emily Lyons-Ellison and Katrina Havrish were inducted into Delta Mu Chapter, Dobro Slovo (The National Slavic Honor Society), in May, 2008. Congratulations!
  • Profs. Kristen Welsh and Meghan Brown were awarded a Fulbright-Hays Group Projects Abroad grant from the Dept. of Education to repeat our Siberia experience (first offered in 2006) in the summer of 2009.  The grant will fully fund a one month study in Siberia for our students, focusing on Lake Baikal, the city of Irkutsk, and the surrounding region.
  • HWS students competed very successfully in the New York Collegiate Russian Competition, hosted by HWS in April.  Russian student Belinda Littlefield won second place in the introductory level, while Harris Goldman took third in the intermediate level.  They competed against students from USMA West Point, SUNY Binghamton, Hamilton College, and Syracuse University.  The competition is an annual event, and will be hosted by Union College in 2009.
